SCIENCE BEHIND INGREDIENTS
1. Magnesium
Magnesium in a mineral that is responsible for several critical cellular processes in the body. Magnesium is a regulator of neurotransmitters in brain, they are responsible for sending signals to brain and the body. Thus, by supporting normal brain function, Magnesium helps the brain fight symptoms of stress. At a nervous system level, it helps the nerves relax and thus convey a feeling of calmness to the mind. It also binds to GABA receptors and thus promotes further relaxation and thus promoting better sleep. There are several studies that support the role of Magnesium in quality sleep.

Studies conducted in workers in Japan have shown GABA to help reduce mental fatigue. Studies have also shown that GABA may have a potential anti-depressant effect.

5. Mucuna pruriens
It is a tropical bean plant native to Africa, India and some parts of China. It is used as a source of L-Dopa amino acid which is precursor of dopamine in brain. Dopamine hormone is a mood boosting hormone. Lack of Dopamine can lead to several neurological disorders affecting sleep as well. Studies show that Mucuna has been effective in treating Parkinson’s disease symptoms.

6. 5 HTP
5 HTP is an amino acid produced by the body which in turn helps in production of Serotonin. Low levels of Serotonin are associated with depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. 5 HTP supplementation restores Serotonin levels and thus helps alleviate symptoms of stress. Studies have also shown 5-HTP supplementation to help reduce the frequency of migraines & headaches.

7. Melatonin
Melatonin is a pineal hormone and is known to regulate the sleep wake cycle (circadian cycle). It is produced when its dark and peak production happens during night. Supplementation of Melatonin may help individuals who have disturbed sleep due to low production of Melatonin or have disrupted sleep cycle due to jet lag etc. A meta-analysis of various studies conducted in adults and children with sleep disorders showed that melatonin supplementation reduced the time taken to fall asleep, increased total sleep time and improved the quality of sleep. Another study in 50 subjects suffering from insomnia showed that melatonin supplementation helped them fall asleep faster and improved the sleep quality.
